Fifth grade marks the gateway year to middle school. We are very fortunate to have a team of 16 highly qualified 5th grade teachers to partner with students and learning coaches in maximizing the educational experience and cementing mastery of common core elementary skills. Your 5th grade elementary teachers will teach class-connect sessions in their area of specialty. In addition, several specialized 5th grade teachers will oversee special content area sessions and organize opportunities for additional instruction giving all students an effective opportunity for mastery. The fifth grade team is here to support and guide you through the process as we help students bring closure to the elementary years and ready themselves for middle school and beyond.

Class Connect Sessions

  • 3 Math (live), 3 ELA/Writing(live) and 2 Science/Social Studies (recorded) each week
  • The links are accessible on the student & LC OLS.
  • The recordings’ links replace the LIVE link once each session is completed.
  • They do not provide instruction on all concepts taught in the OLS.
  • They do provide instruction on ALL CCGPS standards.
  • They provide students with opportunity to ask questions, receive additional assistance and assignments which will allow for adequate practice of the skills.
  • They provide student interaction – breakout rooms; best practices; higher level questioning techniques, problem solving strategies, etc.

How Class Connect Sessions Help
  • Sessions can be attended live and/or listened to as a recording.
  • Assurance that they have been exposed to all necessary content so they are prepared for both the CRCT & the following school year.
  • Data shows the CC-sessions last year made a difference in the students’ mastery of the standards thus affecting CRCT scores & their prep for the following year.
  • But, it’s not just about the scores – it’s about providing a best practices learning environment for our GCA students. It’s about challenging them.
