Two GCA students, Jaylan J. and James R., entered the competition in which they chose an event or period in history, found a number of primary and secondary sources, created a thesis, and analyzed those sources to demonstrate how their topic fit this theme.
Jaylan J. wrote a paper entitled Encountering Effective Law: The 1901 exploration of Hammurabi’s significant political influence from 1792 B.C. to present day while James R. created a website entitled Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.
Both students are to be commended for their hard work throughout the school year as they prepared for their regional competitions in March, placing high enough to advance to the State level. James placed first in the Senior Individual Website division and Jaylan placed second in Senior Individual historical papers.
On April 23, the state competition was held at Mercer University in Macon, GA where James and Jaylan each had a good showing. James placed second in his division and will participate in the national competition which will be held at the University of Maryland in June. This is James’ second year competing in NHD, last year taking third in state.
Congratulations to both Jaylan and James!
